How to FOREVER totally disable yahoo search assistant (mess)?

In the yahoo search box the "smart' yahoo search assistant automatically disables windows IE saved search terms. Even if you disable the Yahoo assistant when you close the browser and reopen it the yahoo search assistant is disabled but THE IE SEARCH TERMS IS ALSO DISABLED. What is the point? In order to get IE to work again you have to turn on the yahoo search assistant then immediatly turn it off again to get the IE saved search terms to work again. And that only works till you close the browser then you have to do it all over again in a new browser window. How messed up! What a pain! Is Yahoo forcing people to use their search terms. How do you turn this off forever. Time to use google more often I guess.

  1. Remove it all together and then you should be ok.  I deleted it from my system when I was using IE and didn't have any problems.

    "start"

    "control panel"

    "add/remove programs"

find it in there and just remove it along with another of the other Yahoo stuff you may not be useing".  I still prefer Firefox over IE though.  It's never given me any problems and I don't get all the spyware and adware in my computer.

  2. No way that I know of.  It is a part of Yahoos front home page and until they fix this design 'bug' you will be forced to use their search assistant.

    Isn't that convienant (by design).
