  1. Send a well-written email to the HOST of the morning show (if the station has one).  Explain that you have a real passion for working in radio and you would love to be a first-string coffee retriever for the show.  Tell them that you will gladly wake up at 3 AM to get to the station and work on show prep.

If you are dealing directly with the jock that you'll be working under through email, don't worry about a resume.  Honestly, 90% of the jobs that you can first get in radio are based on persistance, not experience.  Everyone at the station knows that you will have no marketable experience.

Also, your chances of getting an internship are no better or worse if you are majoring in mass communications or some other radio-related field.  In fact, you would be better off majoring in something else that you can fall back on, because like they say, you never have truly worked in radio until you've been fired.

    Good luck to ya.

  2. call the business offices of all yer local radio stations to find out if any are currently hirin' interns...

make sure you have a professionally printed resume and cover letter in labelled folders...

when you fill out the application, put in the folder with the resume and cover letter...wait a week or so before callin' back to check on the status of yer application...

    best of luck to you...
