  1. most intermediate & prosumer video editing software would allow change in volume at any point in the audio file - click on the audio file in timeline and the audio volume line appears...click again to create volume handles w/c are then moved up or down ..even the location point of created handles can be changed... in these cases, it's up to the editor where to start fade (in/out) and at what volume level.

as an entry-level app, wmm allows easy system controlled fade-in/ fade-out, however, the audio volume change holds at one uniform level for the whole lenght of the audio file, unlike the above.

  2. you can see a very tiny white triangle in the beginning and end of each clip. this tiny triangle can help you creating fade transitions on any kinds of events so hold your mouse left button on it and drag it to left side (inner part of your event) so you can see a line appeared. right click on this line and choose type of your transition such as fast, slow, hold, smooth and etc.

    hope that helped.

  3. You've got two options:

Grab the little blue triangles in the top corners of your audio clips and you can drag them in to fade in and out.

Type "V" and you'll see a volume envelope in your audio tracks.  If you click on on the blue line, you'll add an anchor point.  You can then drag the anchor points from side to side and up and down.

I lied - there's a third option (sort of)!  You can define an external audio editor (Options / Preferences / Audio) and then use that by right clicking on the audio clip.

  4. I believe you select the part you want to fade and right click..

    I haven't used vegas 8.0 in a while.
