Question:

How to I save computer's internet modem settings?

I have DSL internet. It basically runs from modem to router, but the computer I have is directly connected to the router with a ethernet cord. I'm looking to reinstall Windows on my computer, but once I do, the settings for my modem/router setup will have gone and I will have to call my internet service provider for them to reset my router (which will take too long). So how do I go about finding what I need to write down or save so that I don't have to hassle with that? Thanks in advance.

a router has a GUI (graphical user's interface) w/c can be accessed by the use of a default gateway (looks like local ip, the difference is, it's just a local ip exclusively for your router), that means, the router itself has it's own interface that even if you reformat your pc, it won't affect the configuration of the router, so just to be sure, unplug the ethernet from your pc before proceeding with the formatting process..
