How to I tune my Low E to an A?

i need to tune my low e string to an A. please give my thorough instructions how to.

  1. if you go to the sixth fret of the A string, which is one string above the low -E

    if you press down the sixth fret, that note that you play on the sixth fret of the A string will be a middle octave E.. so it will be one octave higher than the low-E, the note your trying to tune..

    so instructions:

    1)On the A string, press down the Sixth fret.

    2)Will be an octave higher than the E

    3)tune from there =)

    note:you can do this technique with any of the other strings, but the fret that you press down may vary

  2. Go to the12th fret of the 5th A-string. The low E should be the same as that note onthe 12th when you fret it.

    As for the poster above me, your info is incorrect. The 6th fret of the 5th string is Eb and the 7th fret is the E one octave higher.
