How to Improve in Dance??

Question

This past year I took a level of jazz and I thought I was in the top half of the class. Now, during summer I have been taking jazz classes at that level, and I have most definately improved. My goal was to get to the next level this fall. I thought that I was good enough, but my teacher told me today that I am better off staying in the lower level. Any ways to improve before fall, so I can take the higher class?

Not to be a show off but im a top rated dancer, and you have to set MANY goals, dance in your room, everywhere you go. make up a hard dance and try to nail it.
