How to Kick Serve? Do I need to toss the ball differently?

Hi, could anyone tell me how to kick serve? Is it the toss that makes the "kick" effect?? I really want to learn the trick of the kick serve, especially for my second serve. At this moment, my second serve's motion is same as my first serve, only weaker. Can anyone help, please? Many thanks!

  1. The sound of a good kick serve is when it sounds like your strings are moving. More power equals less spin. Toss the ball like its going to land on your right ear (if your right handed), go straight up on it, and snap your wrist out to give it the kick. Also, you need to keep your head up extra long, so watch the ball till after you've hit it. If it goes into the net, your usually dropping your head to early. Takes some time to master, but the more you practice the quicker it comes. Hope it all works out for ya and good luck in the Tourny!


  2. Yup, you should toss the ball a bit behind you, and brush against the ball with racquet. For beginning players the motion should be one where are seemingly throwing the racquet away from your body.
