How to Make a Paper Plate Tambourine?

I'm watching my cousin today and she wants me to make her a paper plate tambourine. I have no clue how to do this and she doesn't either. All she knows is that her mother has made them for her. So, how do I do this? I've got a bunch of useless paper plates around too. I never use them either. I know I will need two of them...then what?

  1. Anything thing that jingles, milk bottle tops used to be the best thing but you cant get them anymore, anyway then you sew them around the edge of the plate and there u have it.

  2. Take one paper plate and put some dry beans, buttons, anything that will make a noise in there.  Then, take the other paper plate and put it upside down over the other one.  You can use tape, but I would staple the edges together.  Make sure they are close together so that the "filling" does not come out.  You may want to have her decorate the outside before you start because it will be easier.

  3. If you have any baby food jar tops, you could poke a hole with an ice pick and use them as the jingle part (string them on).
