I have recently taken up veganism, and have been a vegan for almost 3 weeks. I was in my BMI range before I started, at 6'0 and about 145ish pounds. I am eating a well balanced diet but I accidentally lost about 10 pounds since I became a Vegan. However, you can not tell just by looking at me.

Do you think that my body will regulate itself, once it gets used to the new sources of protein and fat...

  1. eat carbs

  2. You are not getting enough calories if you are losing weight.  Eat more calories dense foods like nuts and avocado.

  3. It's very easy.  Eat plenty of calories and carbs.

  4. only a suggestion but have you considered lacto vegitarianism (milk and dairy) as that is a way to put on high amounts of protein and if you want cheese fat too.

otherwise increase you nuts and beans they are high in protein and have some fats in the case of nuts.

  5. Keep track of your caloric intake for a week or so.  If you keep losing weight, you'll know what your caloric intake is and that it's too low for weight maintenance.  So you'll add some calories to it.  If you're coming in low fat-wise, avocadoes, nuts and seeds are a good way to add some calories and heart-healthy fat to your diet.

  6. The 10 pounds was probably water weight, lost because your new diet doesn't include excess salt, but if you keep loosing you need to include more carbs in your diet.

  7. Load up on the chips and French fries, you'll gain back that weight.  But if you're looking to gain lean weight, buy protein supps.

  8. It should. Make sure you're getting enough protein and enough calories to maintain your weight for your height and activity level. Doesn't sound like you can afford to lose much more. You might want to consider adding a soy protein powder to some of your meals to keep calories and protein up.
