Question:

How to Pull off a 1/2 Day Trip from Tel Aviv To Jerusalem on a Saturday?

I would like to go to Jerusalem on Saturday before my flight, but that will require me to be back in Tel Aviv by 2:00 PM or so. Is it possible to do this trip quickly in a 1/2 day?

Should I take a bus or train? How do I do it? Thanks!

  1. there are no buses or trains on saturday. you could take a taxi or maybe hire a private driver-guide for half a day's tour, this way he/she can show you the highlights and can also get you to the airport.

it's not a cheap prospect though, could set you back like 400 dollars or so.

  2. Honestly, it doesn't really sound like a good idea to me.  Even if you could find transportation on a Saturday, you're not giving yourself much time.

The only modes of transportation that are at your disposal (to my knowledge) on a Saturday are rental cars, and arab taxis.  But if you're leaving on a Saturday, I don't know how you could take the car back to the rental store (since nobody will be there).

Taking a cab from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, even on a weekday, is quite expensive.  It will be even more expensive because rates are much higher on Satudays due to increased demand.  Even if you want to do this, it may be difficult to find a ride to Jersulem early enough to justify your trip.

So yeah, if I were you, I would stay in Tel Aviv and enjoy the beautiful Meditaranian beaches one last time before leaving!

  3. Rent a car from a Muslim.

  4. the trip can be done in 1/2 a day as its only an hour away. You must however leave Tel aviv very early. You should inquire if there are any 1/2 day tours leaving from tel aviv to jerusalem, in this way you will not have to worry about transportation. You must remember that...

Public transportation (buses and trains) dont run on saturday, so you will have to either rent a car , the rental car can be returned to the airport 24/7.or take a taxi, israeli taxis work on saturdays, this is a very busy day for them. You will not be able to find an arab taxi in tel aviv, unless you book it.

There are many great places to see in jerusalem, just plan it a head so you will not waste any time.

    enjoy have fun

  5. You'd take a sharoot from Tel Aviv, but since it's Sabbath, no services...except Arab taxis.

  6. This might be kind of hard, because you have so little time. You might want to rethink going to Jerusalem on a Saturday, almost everything is closed, and so you might not beable to find some fun things to do there, get a bite to eat, etc. since evrything would be closed. Hope this helped!
