I have a large seasoning salt plastic bottle (for sprinkling).

2 ice cube trays

various sizes of round cookie tins

I was going to throw them out but first thought I'd see if anyone had any creative ideas so I could reuse them. Thanks

  1. If you are throwing out the ice cube trays because you got an automatic ice maker ... I kept all of mine when we got our ice maker, and used them to freeze cool aid. Also when we would make mixed drinks I would freeze some of the mix in these trays and add them to the drink to cool them down. Other than that I don't have any ideas.

  2. The plastic bottle can be used for mixing whatever commonly used herbs/spices you use together.  Or, I mix up cinnamon & sugar.

Cookie tins can come in so handy.  Buttons, small spools of thread, etc.  I have one that I keep samples of crochet stitches.  If you have kids, have them decorate the tins, carefully cut a hole in the top (or not) & you have a piggy bank.

Have fun with your new projects!

  3. We kept our old ice trays to freeze juice or coffee for frozen drinks in the summer. ever make your own ice coffee? so yummy.  or for freezing left over broth  to use later.  and we have one thats a little bigger than the rest we use to make frozen treats for the dogs.

Cookie tins make great storage containers for crayons and small toys, or craft supplies, small cookie cutters, or anything really. You could decorate them, fill them with homemade cookies and give them out for the holidays.

The season salt container, I'm not sure. Do you ever make up your own spice mixes?  i made up a mix in an old spice container for putting on hamburgers and stuff cooked outside, so we don't have to take a bunch of little containers out. mine is just the things my family likes, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, pepper, and a little salt.  but yours can be anything, you can make up your own secret recipe :)

or if you like doing crafts, you could clean it up good and use it for glitter or beads, or take the little plastic shaker top off and just use it to store little things. If you have small children you could just wash it out and give it to them and see what they come up with.  or maybe make some homemade bubble solution in it?
