How to Rid the Home of Brown Recluse?

Before people ask... Yes, I know what it is. I live in Kansas. I have it in a jar still live to show my kids to learn. It is my first in this home. I have messy kids and always have windows open so my environment is ideal.

Now, how do I best RID THESE??? Every time I think of 'em I get beyond goose bumps from ankle to neck. Please tell me an effective way to rid them? Also, Why are nocturnal critters that are reclusive out on my open wall at 5 PM? Before you dumb me down like my hub (are you sure...) know I am sure and my doubtful fellow looked up pics and said sorry already.

  1. Making your best efforts to keep you house clean and things picked up is going to help.  If you have piles of stuff sitting and never being moved is where they will hide.  I was told also that spraying and bombs dont work because of the of the hair on them?? basically they walk right over it... I know that probably doesnt make you feel better.  A friend of mine has a pest control person come out and uses these sticky strips to catch them.  They seem to work.  Good luck - I am deathly afraid of any spiders so I feel for you.

  2. BOMB!  Bomb under the house, in the house, the attic and  spray the yard.  Leave your house for a couple of days.  The spray will do less damage than the bite of these spiders.

  3. OH MY GOD! I would have to move!!! :(

I cannot stand even daddy long legs!!!! But a brown recluse!!?

I agree with the first comment, destroy those evil creatures even if it means you have to leave your house for a couple days!!! Ew!

  4. We have brown recluse spiders here too, and the home foggers work some, but not well enough.  The only way to effectively get rid of them is to have an exterminator do it.  And tell them what your trying to kill.  These spiders will even hide in the walls, behind electrical outlets, cluttered garages, and places you would never think about.  They definitely will come out in the daytime, especially if disturbed or looking for food.  Please call a professional exterminator, especially because of the children.  Teaching the children how important it is to keep things tidy might help a bit too.  If they leave things in disarray it will provide hiding places for spiders.  The first thing I eliminated was the toy box.  I installed shelves for my son's toys.

  5. The best way is to have your house treated in and out every year  with a company that did not use toxic chemicals. I contracted for about $40 from April to October and they along with other bug buddies were GONE!
