as Taylor McKnight started taking a photo a day on January 1st, 2004.

I discovered how neat it would be, and i was thinking.

If i Consider doing this, What Digital Camera would be best for Positing? Positing would be everything! Any Help please.

  1. A friend did this when his wife was pregnant, taking a picture a day of her.

Any digital camera will do so long as it has a tripod mount.  As far as positioning goes, here's what he did:

Had her stand in one position (pick a wall or something neutral as a background).  He then took painter's tape and made a box around her feet.  He then setup his camera on a tripod aimed at her, made note of the focal length, then put painter's tape under the exact spot where he had each tripod leg.

Then he could move her, tripod, etc. and later get the exact same shot by putting her feet in the box and the tripod legs at the exact same spots.

  2. a good combination for this, assuming you want quality images without having to carry a lot of weight around, would be a leica d-lux 3 point and shoot camera (or its panasonic cousin, which is a little noisier) which can be had for around four to five hundred bucks,  and an ultralight bogen/manfrotto tripod, which can be had for around or under 100 bucks.  Using a tripod would be pretty important if you want to make sure you have the EXACT same shot every single day.  if it is an urban setting, use some spraypaint (don't get caught) to mark the positioning of the tripod legs, just 3 small dots on the sidewalk or pavement.  if the place where you want to position your camera is rural, or in a park or whatnot, take a plastic container, fill it with some sort of metal, like nails or pennies or whatever, bury it a few inches down in the ground, and get a cheap handheld metal detector to find the exact same spot every day.
