Question:

How to Use Cable Splitters?

Ok, so I am going to college this fall and I really want to pimp out my dorm room. I was hoping to bring 2 tv's, but there is only one cable output plug. I have never used a cable splitter, so how exactly does it work? Do you just connect the cable output plug and the 2 tv's to it? And when you connect the tv's, can you watch a different channel on each tv? Also, is it legal in Massachusetts (where I'm going to college)? - Thanks

  1. Just get a 2 by one splitter. (One cable input from the wall, and two outlets to connect your two TV's.) You can watch different channels on the TV's, but hope you have a strong signal. Splitters typically lower the signal strength by 3.5 db. or so.. (So if you get a 'snowy' pic, you may need an in-line cable amplifier.) 10 db. or so.. It is legal in Mass. and most everywhere. I have seen splitters used all over the place. Radio Shack splitters are as good as any other. They are mostly all made in China.!!

  2. idk bout the legal thing

but u'll need 3 cable cords 1 for each tv then the outlet

then connect them on the splitter
