How to accelerate video graphic card?

I had Windows Vista Home Premium, but now I have Windows Vista Ultimate. So I got an error message when I tried to play a simple Windows game:

"Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver, which could slow game performance.Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed and that hardware acceleration is turned on".

Also because of that, my Windows Vista screensavers is not working at all too. How should I accelerate my PC video card? My friend told me to do it though Control Panel, but where and how? What should I click step by step?

  1. You need to upgrade the drivers for your video card. Since you are running an AMD machine, probably ATI Catalyst drivers. Could also be Nvidia or Intel depending on what's inside your machine.
