How to access C: folders in Local area network?

I've made a local network between my two computers, I can access anything in D:\ folders but when I want to copy files from C:\ folders the access denied, did I made something wrong when making this network "one of the computers have XP windows and the other is Vista, I can access the XP one but only to D:\ folders anyway the Vista one I can't access both C:\ and D:\"

  1. Well, when you setup the network, what folders did you share?  

    Sharing the entire C drive is a very very BAD idea. It opens several security issues that are not necessary.  To share a folder,

    On My Computer click the C drive, open it and share ONLY the folders you really need to access. Don't share the entire C drive!  Your operating system should never be in a shared folder and if you share C it will be.

    To share a folder, right click it, click the sharing tab.

    to acess it over the network, the drive is hidden.

    in the other computer go to run. \\computername$ will expose the whole c drive. but the answer is correct this will open up a big security issue in your network.
