How to act as a princess character?

I'm probably going to be transitioning to work as as a princess character at the theme park that I work at, and I'm wondering if anyone who has worked at other theme parks like Disney can give advice for how to work with the kids while in that role. Thanks!

  1. If you're playing a princess character from a movie then watch that movie over and over and learn as much as you can about the character.

If you're playing a princess from a book make sure you've read the book.

#1 thing is to KNOW that character inside and out. You want to be able to have those kids believe you ARE the princess. Kids are smart and will ask you a ton of questions and you need to answer them without batting an eye.

    Where is your prince?

I have your movie, what was it like when...?

    What's your favorite color?

Learn to answer based on what your character would know. Does your character know what a car is or other modern inventions? (If not, you'll have a ton of fun playing dumb.)

A lot of these questions are going to be up to you make up on the spot. Have some friends over to ask you questions. They'll likely have fun with it and end up preparing you for the worst which isn't likely to happen.

Also, know your characters manerisms. Learn how they walk and how they talk.

Most often kids will be in awe of you and just stare. Be prepared to hug and smile a lot. If your princess has an official autograph make sure you know it.

It will be a truly amazing and memorable experience because you're their hero! Enjoy every second of it!

For a generic princess make up a backstory and stick with it. The more realistic your character is the better you'll be. Have fun with it. Remember that a princess is always courteous and uses her manners. Teach the girls to curtsey when greeted and teach the boys how to be princes.

  2. Be nice and sweet

    >>that is what I guess princes are,when i was a kid

  3. Go to Target or Walmart, over by the books and CD/Video section, and look for coloring books and other books about Disney princess characters.  Flip through them and you'll be able to get into the character.

It might even be worth buying one of the books.  I saw a few really good ones when shopping for my young niece. Around $20 I think (the books; the coloring books are less than $3).

They would certainly inspire a princess attitude!
