Question:

How to actually delete "compress old files"?

When I scanned my drive through disc cleap up it said I had 9gb worth of compress old files and I know disc clean up only compresses them and not deletes it so do not tell me that. I'm just asking if there is a way/software that can actually remove these files?

Thanks

  1. Files needing mere deleting can be done (on XP) by right click & select that (plus confirmation) to 'delete' but if you need to erradicate (eliminate  all traces) of the file, they must be overwritten.  A handy freeware item for this is 'Eraser'.  Get that from 'snapfiles.com/freeware'; look in File management heading.

Best if overwritten 3X to 7X for secure deleting.

  2. ccleaner is easy to use and works great for me

oh sorry then maybe you should use a file shredding program like Stompsoft's file shredder to delete old compress files or visit this download link for fileshredder. File shredders delete files permanently.
