How to add lead tape to my racquet?

I have a Wilson K Factor K Surge and would like to make it a bit more heavy. I want to add about 12 grams to it but would like to make the swingweight heavier without having to make the racquet head heavy. There is a little shaft under the racquet after the buttcap is removed and was wondering how do I put the lead tape in the shaft?

  1. Add lead tape to the throat area (6 o'clock position) of your racquet. This will also extend the sweet spot in that direction. For the handle, remove the grip and place your tape vertically on one side. Use clear tape to completely cover the lead tape so you are not exposed to the lead when you regrip.

Be sure to carefully wash your hands after handling lead tape and thoroughly clean your work area afterwards.

You may also find that when you remove your grip that lead tape has already been placed there by the manufacturer.

  2. You could enlarge the sweetspot of the racquet, by putting lead tape on the inside of the head at 10 and 2 o'clock, or 9 and 3 o'clock, pending on where you like the ball on the string bed.  You balance that weight by putting the lead tape on the inside of the leather grip.  And you could add a bit more to the throat of the racquet (neutral area), if you needed a higher swingweight.  You should experiment a little, till you get the right balance and feel.
