How to add more muscle definition and get rid of the love handles?

Hi,

I'm a 24 year old male and have been working out for the past 8 years off and on now. I haven't been regular but do manage to keep myself fit by way of push ups and some basic warm ups when I don't hit the gym.

My problem is that when I do work out regularly, I do not manage to get a good muscle definition at all. All my muscles in my arms and chest get rock solid hard but the cuts just don't show up. I've tried doing light weights and more reps but that didn't help me either. I haven't taken any supplements so far and am a genetic endomorph.

I'm slowly getting back to regular workout and very determined to get ripped and lose my love handles for good. Please advice on workout schedules and nutrition with supplements.

  1. Ok, to start you need to know some Anatomy.  There are two types of muscles cells.  White and red.  The white are large and bulky, they are used for maximum strength and minimum endurance.  Red cells are leaner and have definition, they are used for long endurance and less strength.  A power-lifting champion needs white cells.  Whereas a marathon runner needs red cells.

Now about you... you want both!  Right?  Good, me and you both.  So what we need is a combination of Heavy weights with low reps and light weights with high reps.  I know you said you tried it, but it's the only way.  Do you feel you have fat in your muscle?  That can interfere.  Also you must remember that your body has something called muscle memory, what that is is your muscle becomes "adapted" to your lifting habit.  For this reason you must change your weight and reps once a month.

Also you must be OUT of the gym long enough for your muscles to rebuild.  3 to 4 times a week for an hour to an hour and a half is good and if you feel like you might have fat in the muscle run on the days your out of the gym.

About nutrition and supplements I would advise you not to take the protein powders, it's MUCH better to just have a richer protein diet.

And drink a LOT of water while exercising.  Muscle is 70% water.

    Good luck,

    Your fellow sportman
