Question:

How to add new things to cockatiel's cage?

I was at a pet store today looking at the cockatiels. They had a huge rope perch in their cage that they sat on and chewed on a little. I bought one for my cockatiel. I put it in her cage, and when I tried to put her in it, she chirped loudly and flew to a safe spot. Once I got her in her cage, she was terrified of the rope. Is there a way to help her get used to the rope? it would really help her get around her cage better. Will she ever like it? What should I do? Thanks.

  1. put treats all over it, place it on top of the cage aswell as your bird, and let her get used to it.

  2. well my gese is that u either put some food on it so she has tp stand on it to get the food worked whith my finger, or u can just let it get use to it

  3. Put the rope on the floor away from her usual perch.  Give it a few days to see what she does.  If she starts playing with it, then put it up lower than her favorite perch for now.  If she starts using it fine, and if she makes it her main perch, then make it the highest perch.   Some birds won't accept new things.
