I am trying to add a phone in my room [in the attic] to the existing phone line on the main floor. Is there a way I can do this without any wiring or spending a lot of money?

  1. you basicly need a phone jack and phone wire  from the main or base phone to you jack in the atic then simply plug in the phone and it will work there is not other way that i am aware of to do this

  2. Sure.  You could use the "wireless phone jacks" like the ones in the link in the sources.

Of course, the simplest thing might be to just get a cordless phone and keep the handset upstairs.  There are lots of models now that come in a bundle with one base station and multiple handsets.  You only need one phone jack and you can put the handsets and their charging bases just about anywhere.  The sources has a link for a set for 36 dollars.

  3. Most cordless handsets come with two handsets and two bases. The one base plugs into the phone jack and an electrical outlet, the other just into an electrical outlet. This allows you to have a charging base and handset anywhere in the house. I'd go with a phone that has 2GHz or more, that way you can be further away from the base and still have a signal. - cheers
