When I catch our cat urinating somewhere besides the litter boxs I never know how to act. I give a firm NO and placing her in the litter box but she jumps back out and will do it again another time. I keep the literbox clean and I have 2 of them in the house.

What is the correct way to ACT? Please dont tell me to stick there face in it because I have respect for my family!

Thank you very much.

  1. Let it know it's not allowed to go wherever it wants. If you actually want results, you have to stick it's  face in it. It's the only thing tha will work.

  2. the way you are addressing this problem is quite appropriate.  Keep doing what your doing. Just make sure the when she DOSE go in the litter box you praise her and maybe give her a treat or too to reinforce the good behavior.

  3. have you taken her to the vet? it sounds like she might have a urinary tract infection and is trying to tell you.  it's rare that a cat goes outside of the box unless there is a problem. if it's not a UTI, then you look to other things, but you want to rule that out firsthand. it could be something as simple as not liking her cat litter. but, if it is a UTI, you want her on antibiotics and then you also want to switch her to a premium natural food with a cranberry supplement like Wellness Indoor Health.

  4. My cat went funny one day after we had another cat guest visiting.  She started to go all over trying to mask the scent of the other cat.  After a while, she went back to normal.

If you've changed brand of kitty litter recently, she may not like the new one.  Are the litters still in the same place?  How old is she? Sometimes old pets get arthritis.  A bit like my grandma who had a shower installed as she could not step in the bath anymore!
