How to adjust saddle postions

Hi,I would like to know How to adjust saddle positions on my bike.I have bought a new saddle but it is very straight up and I its very annoying after a few minutes to ride the bike.How do I adjust it? and what is the best saddle position for long distance?ThanksMike
