  1. It is most likely because you have an integrated graphics card. They take some of your ram as 'shared memory' and use that to display the pictures and videos etc on your screen. If you need more ram, you'd need to buy some.

  2. You can't.  You have 512mb installed, but 32Mb is used by your graphics card.  You might be able to reduce this in your video properties to 16mb or even 8mb, but that is not really going to help much and would destroy your graphics performance.

Upgrade your RAM to at least 1gb, which these days should cost no more than £35 ($65 approx).  You'll then be left with 992mb to play with.

  3. Hi!

Unfortunately there is no way of changing it. The full capacity of the ram IS 480mb. Don't worry though, everything is made like this. It's a problem when creating memory and affects everything. My 80gb hard drive is really only 76.4gb.

  4. The chances are its due to a integrated graphics chip using shared memory. You can't disable it otherwise your computer won't work properly. Buy a new graphics card that has built in ram (automatically disables other one) You will then be able to do alot more with your computer.

  5. Try checking your BIOS setup.  Maybe your missing 32MB was shared and set to your Video Card or for your VGA.

  6. it doesnt detect it because that is the amount of power your operating system is calling its own and an 80 gig drive saying 76.4 is because the os is using the other 3.6 gigs

  7. It is simple, on-board graphics chip away 32 from the total, getting a video card make the computer give back the 32 to form 512.
