How to apply for a passport for the first time?

Alright, so I already went online, and filled out all of the information for the application. I have printed out the two coppies of the Application. I have my original birth certificate. And I have two different pictures of me 2"x2".

First question is....does in have to be 2 different pictures of me, or is it two of the same picture?

And do I staple whichever two pictures it is, together on the same spot on the application? Or is it one picture on one of the copies, and the other pic. on the other application copy? (or two on both?)

Next, I read somewhere on the site that I had to take it to a certain post office and send both copies of the application with the Birth certificate to a certain address....Do I need everything already in an envelope sealed? Do they give me an envelope at the post office?

Then it says on the bottom of the application that I have to sign it when requested to do so by person administrating oath. Where do I go to do this, and when?

This is all so confusing for a stupid passport, I need step by step what I need to do, like and idiots guide to get a passport. lol.

  1. For the pictures, it is best to take more than two to the post office with you and they will tell you the two best to send, and they will affix them to the form for you.  (They are very picky about the background shadows, etc.).  Do not sign it until you are at the post office.  And have your own envelope.
