I am so bored with my current job and intend to quit. Anybody knows how to quit a job but still be eligible for unemployment benefits in California?

  1. Unemployment is ONLY for those who are laid off, you are not protected if you voluntarily quit.  Find another job, then quit.  In the mean time, you will have to deal with your current situation unless you are independently wealthy.

  2. If you quit a job, you can not file for unemployment, and if you try, your former employer will fight it.

  3. Unemployment benefits are for those who are unemployed due to not cause of their own.  So quitting because you are bored does not qualify you for unemployment benefits.  If you quit due to reasons such as harassment, you MIGHT qualify.  However, be aware that it is a "slam dunk".  You would have to fight for it under legal grounds.

Bottomline, don't quit until you have another job.  Boredoom is just one of those things in the work-a-day world, especially when starting out in a career.
