  1. It's not wrong. Jesus drank alcohol, even turned water to wine. its okay to drink, just in moderation. dont drink to get drunk and lose ur inhibitions.

  2. why is it wrong?  Every christian Ive ever known was half in the bag most of the time

  3. Good luck. Your best bet is to make something up. For sure, don't consult the Bible.

  4. The argument is NOT that drinking alcohol is wrong, it's the drinking in excess that is wrong. One of the seven deadly sins is gluttony and that is why excessive drinking is wrong, not the act itself. Many people get that wrong. I think it's funny, especially since Jesus was without sin and one of His miracles was turning water into wine!

  5. Is it? I think that's an untenable position for a Christian. If you read the Bible carefully, you'll discover that drinking isn't necessarily wrong. It's being drunk that's the problem. Some Christians don't drink because they don't want to become drunk. That's fine. But that doesn't make enjoying a drink a sin.

Jesus tells the pharisees, "John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine and you said he has a demon. The Son of Man came both eating and drinking and you call him a drunkard and a glutton." He's telling the pharisees that they are hypocrites because they accuse JTB of being a freak and living outside of society and eating bugs. Then they accuse Jesus for "fitting in". The main point is that the pharisees want to have it both ways. Below the surface, however, we see that Jesus' point would have no oomph behind it if he hadn't actually been drinking.

If you tell me that a Christian shouldn't drink, you're using the same reasoning as the pharisees. You're saying Jesus' witness wasn't good enough or that he himself wasn't pure enough.

A more productive argument would be that drunkenness isn't cool or glamorous, and that it can injure your relationship with God and fellow humans. There are plenty of verses to support that.

  6. This is a touchy subject unfortunately.  Many people are on the fence... they like to say that Jesus turned water into wine but then the bible also says if you take one sip you are basically drunk.

I personally don't agree with "drinking" primarily b/c of the behaviors that can be followed by it.  But then you have many churches that give wine at communion.  I think that everyone has a personal and special walk with God and that if they don't see anything wrong with "drinking" then okay.  If they feel that partaking in wine with dinner is not drinking then okay - if they feel it is then okay.

My point is there will never be a subject that won't be debated, especially when it comes to Christianity. Do what is  best for you and with what you feel God would be pleased with.

If a person feels that it is not wrong for them then there is nothing to argue about, save your time :)

  7. its not...Jesus christ himself drank wine. getting really drunk is probably not either. Though the bible does say not to mistreat your body.

  8. well that was wut u choose to believe so u can tell them that and dont feel less than they cuz u dont do it. let me add this everything is good but not in excess as an emt i learned that water can be even dangerous in excess..i hope u got the idea...but yeah drinking can destroy ur life and even those around u...

  9. Drink no longer water but take a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thy sometimes infirmities.

  10. please in teh bible everyone drinks ! and communion duh ! it's not welch's grape juice back in the olden day s ! it was wine
