Question:

How to ask collections for tradeline removal upon payment

I'm dealing with MSR associates. I want to send a letter requesting that I pay a smaller amount than what they want and upon payment, they remove negative tradeline from my credit reports.

It makes no sense to pay it if it won't increase my credit score. It's already listed as negative credit on all 3 reports.

  1. You need a pay for delete letter. Make sure you get it in writing and that it is worded properly. Some of them will agree to "paid in full" so that's all it will say on your credit report is that it is "paid in full". What it NEEDS to say is that the credit/collection agency will DELETE the negative entry from your credit report.

  2. Send them a modified pay for deletion offer.
