How to ask the "Judge"?

I'm 16 and contesting a speeding ticket I got on my way home from school, it was a speed trap. The question is, how can I go about asking for a plea bargain so I could possibly receive "PBJ", or something that will help me keep my license away from suspension. I live in MA and since I am under 18 i fall under the new JOL law which states that after my first speeding ticket my license should be suspended. I was only 11mph over in a 30mph zone, i have a clean record, and was not driving recklessly.

  1. You don't have a case. However, after the hearing, but before sentencing, the judge will usually ask all parties involved if they have anything they would like to say. That is when you can ask the Judge a question or make a statement. But when you talk to the Judge, be courteous. It's "Yes Sir, No Sir" or "Yes/No Your Honor". After you have your say, say "Thank you". There's nothing a Judge hates more than a smart alick.

  2. You don't have a case.  Often times you'll just get a fine, and that's it.  But if it's suspended, you'll live.  Just be careful and slow down.  Speed traps or not, you are required to go no higher than the speed limit.  I don't care how fast others are driving.

  3. Consult a lawyer.....he will do the talking for you...

And drive the speed limit from now on.

  4. How was it a 'speed trap'.... because you got caught???

I'll bet your story won't go over well with the Judge, but go ahead and try it.

Oh, by the way.... your parent has to be with you in court.

  5. .   YOu can not "contest" the ticket and then offer to accept a plea bargain.  Either you are innocent or guilty.  A plea means guilty.  Go to court. Be respectful and dress nice.  Don't get mad even if the policeman says things that make you mad.  YOu will get lucky.  I hope you don't have 25 tattoos.
