How to attach wood to a tree secuerly?

I want to create a tire swing but the only branch is about 50 feet up..I want to take two 2x4's and create a 45 degree angle, attach the corners of the 45 to the tree and hang the tire swing and rope from the corner the two 2x4's create...my problem is how to attach the wood 45 degree angle to the tree securely enough to be safe?....Any suggestions?

  1. As Jim W said, you need a box from 2x6's secured to the tree with lag bolts.


  2. The 2x4's are not strong enough. Use 2x6, and box frame around the trunk for the brace and the arm. Ask an adult who has done something like this to help.
