I just got this bareback pad off ebay:

but I don't know how to connect the breast plate that it came with. It's this breast plate:

Does anyone know how to do it? Or any suggestions of how I could make it work?

  1. You'd have to add some sort of loops/d-rings to that pad to make it work.  I don't think they were really designed to go together.  Do you need the breastcollar?  I never use one with my bareback pads.

  2. I can't get the image of the pad up, so I can't respond.

EDIT:  Take it to a saddle shop that does repairs and ask them to add D rings by sewing nylon straps (like a nylon lead rope) to the nylon overgirth so that the Dees are at the front of the pad...they will know what to do when you show them your breast collar and it should cost very little to have it done.

  3. I looked at the coolback bareback pad and did not see that it came with that nylon breast collar.

I would have said that it attached to the stirrup dees but in this case there aren't any.

IF you had purchased a suede bareback pad, all you really need to do is find an old flank cinch, cut it in 1/2 and have your saddler cut you a strap about the SAME width but double the original length and have him attach it to the sides of your bareback pad, but unfortunately it would pull through your coolback pad.

BTW Toklat makes EXCELLENT coolback saddle pads!
