I take medications for my bipolar disorder - and because of them I can't drink alcohol - I get extremely dizzy and tired after one drink. How can I tell people that I don't want to drink without having to mention my meds?

  1. Well you could tell them you have to drive home tonight if your at their house or at a restaurant, and if they say it's just one, say you just had one, and if they say I insist, say no thank you.

Usually they stop after asking you 3 times.

If you at a restaurant order what you want and if they insist do the above.

  2. Just tell them you don't drink. You can also say you gave it up for a month.

  3. Just say your not an alcoholic and if people try to pressure you into drinking firmly say "NO".

  4. You shouldn't have to explain anything; if you're at a restaurant, order something non-alcoholic.  Same deal at social gatherings; you don't need to explain anything- just drink what you want.

It's nobody's business why you do not drink alcohol.

  5. say you are straightedge or something.

  6. Don't explain anything, you don't have to.  Just say you don't drink and change the conversation.

  7. Order virgin drinks

  8. I agree with Moa. Or you could just say you do not like the taste of alcohol.
