Here's what I already do.

Hold your head up high

Hand out of pockets

Don't wear anything like iPod,etc.

I put my money in my sock (yea yea)

Walk around with others

Walk like you have a purpose

What else should I know, because I've been mugged before. Also, everytime I've been mugged they always ask where I live. What am I suppose to say? I heard your not suppose to answer, but what if they get violent cause you didn't answer.

  1. stay home

  2. Hands out of pockets??? I always keep my hands in my pockets, holding my keys, ready to scratch anyone's eyes out if they come near me.

  3. good lord where DO you live? that sound sjust awful.

perhaps if you carried a bullhorn in one hand they would leave you alone cause you could makea HUGE amount of noise.

good luck and i wish you all the protection from muggers i can!!!1

  4. It's not about how you feel before someone comes up to you - it's about how you feel afterwards. If you know that you'll be ready to hit him/them hard and fight, your behavior will change, and they will notice it. Also, remember that most "jumpers" are a******s, cause they do it in groups, cause they are scared. And you are alone, so once they see that you are not afraid to fight one on multiple, some will back down, and others YOU will put down. Remember, self-defense is always legal if there's no way to escape.

And from experience: I am a white guy, who lived in a NYC project for a couple of years. I'm not into drugs, drinking, even girls and parties. I was just a shy high school student. During that time, only once something happened, but those kids with whome it happened were just playing games-they were young. Anyways, I didn't get into any troubles with adults from the project. I just sincerely smiled and said hi- they did the same. In my situation, fear turned to anger, and sometimes I walked the streets like a king. By that, I mean my psyche changed. In my life, I've never gotten into any fights, because I have minimum, if not zero enemies. But as a teenager, I can't wait for someone to get me angry, so I could release all of my energy onto something and beat the c**p out of that person.

One more advice-if you finally decide to fight the offenders off, make sure you can handle them - don't be a hothead, use your head, cause those people never do that. If they did, they wouldn't mug you, they would rob banks and work on heists with big money involved, not pocket change.

And my last advice- always carry 10-20 dollars, so the offenders will get some satisfaction. Meaning if you have no other way to escape/protect yourself, you should give the money, cause your live is worth more than a 20 dollar bill.
