  1. You just hit the ball over the net. Practise to no end until you get it right. You have to hit it while it's pretty high in the air. Height is a big advantage in serving.

  2. you have to toss the ball high enough

  3. Try hitting the ball with the racquet at an upwards angle. Just slightly. Or twist the racquet itself so it is at an angle and the ball hits an angled surface.

  4. Here's what really helped me

Stand next to the fence and toss the ball as high as possible

Then trap it against the fence with your racket.

Make sure the racket it directly above you, and the ball is over your head.

    It's harder than it sounds.

After a few times go up to the base line and hit it.

This time focus on snapping your wrist. This is a key part of your serve, the wrist.

If your still not improving, it might be your toss.

Put your tennis racket slightly in front of you so the head is facing the next. Then toss your ball up. It should land directly on the strings.

Remember youre not throwing the ball up, youre pushing it up with your fingers.

  5. If you have the ability to get the ball over, yet are just having trouble every once in awhile there are a few options.

The ball goes into the net because you are hitting the top part of the ball (hitting down on the ball).  To fix this you need to toss the ball higher in order to hit the bottom of the ball and hit it up and over.

Another reason a ball goes into the net is because you are falling over.  This one is simple to fix.  Keep your offhand shoulder up (keep you left hand in the air after you toss the ball if you are a righty).

    Good luck with those serves!

  6. Hello!  The best way to avoid hitting the net while serving is to learn the topspin serve.  After you have learned this serve you will never hit the net ever again.  Trust me.  Tennis pros' second serves are almost all topspin serves, and they just don't go into the net.  On this website it teaches you how to do the serve.  So after you have perfected the topspin serve you can try fast serves, which tend to go into the net if you follow through too quickly.  Kind of stop after the racket makes contact with the ball, and then follow through.  Hope this helps.  Good luck man! (The first website is how to do the topspin serve and second is on other tennis techniques.)

  7. Get your toss up, and hit up on the ball. Start out trying to hit it long, and work your way back in.

  8. Toss the ball as high as your racket can reach and a little in front of you. Keep your tossing arm extended. Do not drop that arm until after you come in contact with the ball. Use the hammer grip and brush up on the ball with a whip-like motion to generate spin. Bend your knees so that you can spring up when hitting the ball.

  9. Throw the ball high and hit it with the racket at an angle

  10. while doing your follow through, instead of going down with the racket, go forward longer and then down. :-)
