How to avoid second guessing on exam?

How can I avoid second-guessing myself on an exam? I usually do this whenever I'm not sure between two answers on a multiple choice test. Usually, the first answer is always right, but sometimes it can be wrong.... I'm not sure what to do.

as soon as you pick the first answer, mark it down, then cover up that question so you dont look at the other answers and change it.
