Question:

How to avoiding answering: What college do you attend or what is your major at college?

Since I am a college student (not on campus), people are constantly asking me the two questions above .

Don't get me wrong. I am NOT ashamed of my major or my school, I just don't want to tell them. I went to another college prior to this, and majored in something completely different. When I did, people would ask me all the time and i would tell them but they were so quick to judge. They would make negative remarks or wateva that it would make me doubt myself.

THEY ARE HATERS!! I DON'T LIKE HATERS.

In fact, I LOVE IT SOO MUCH that I don't want them putting me down.

So this time I decided to keep this to myself and that is that.

When I graduate and they happen to know what I do for a living, that is fine but other than that I have enough stress from school.

How do I answer these questions politely without answering them? Something witty or cute? maybe a little fib?? lol Please help!

P.S. I don't want to say "it's none of your business" or "I don't want to answer it.

  1. Tell them you just broke out of prison...

  2. you could make a joke of it:  "if i tell ya i'ma hafta kill ya"  kinda thing - or you could just say that you're majoring in becoming a millionaire.

  3. Just tell them you're not sure or haven't decided then change the subject.

  4. You could just go all the way around:"And what is YOUR major? Are you as happy about it as I am about mine?".

  5. Just say, "General Studies" and that you're figuring out what path you want to take. Although, I wonder what major you could possibly have to make people act so negatively! I major in anthropology and people always say "well, what can you possibly do with that?" I always say "I'm going to be a professor" even if I'm not. That usually shuts people up.
