How to back up the data from my dell computer?

i have a Dell dimension x*x (forgot the number). i need to back up all the things in my computer,but when i bought this computer, it doesn't come with a back up CD or software. what should i do ? i bought it 4 years ago,and it is Windows XP home edition. no warranty.

You can use either cd's or a flash drive. I use SanDisk Cruzer micro, has U3 technology.
