  1. Depends, on the environment your selling in.

I sell an assortment of things at flea markets and I do detective work when I sell.

I look at the persons hands, smooth skin and no calluses. Your more than likely dealing with a professional of some type. That usually means they have a larger disposable income than most and you can push them to pay higher prices. Don't bother looking for expensive jewelry, that's usually at home or in their pocket while they shop.

I really don't bother looking at their clothing, most people think wearing worn clothing to the flea market will help in their haggling. And for that matter some people just wear old clothing because it's comfortable during a long day at the market.

But I do look at their shoes. Old or new, expensive shoes are expensive shoes, that too means money.

Cell phones are a great tip off. There's a world of difference between a Trac phone and a Razor.

Keys also are a another tip off. You'd be surprised by the number of people (mostly men) that hold out their car keys for display. I think it's to unconsciously show off that they have that Lexus or Caddie in the garage.

I could go on, but I don't want to give out all of my secrets.

  2. 1) Determine the absolute lowest price you can sell an item without encountering loss.

    2) Find out what other shoppers are selling it for.

    3) Judge the need/willingness of customer to buy.

    4) Then bargain accordingly.
