I want to know how to be a corrections officer

  1. Through your county, it would be at the Sheriff's Department. In a state prison, it would be through the Department of Corrections ( most have a website for their own state and you can apply online).

    Basically, you would have to be at least 18, a high school graduate or G.E.D., a clean driver's license ( at least for the state because you may be needed to drive a state vehicle), no legal restrictions against being weapons qualified ( again, if with the state, you are qualified annually with pistol, rifle and shotgun) and be in a sufficient physical condition to complete your Academy training.
