I'm a girl in 7th grade. I want to do track in 8th grade but I'm a slow runner. What are specific things I should do to prepare for certain events in Track and Field in order to make me the fastest runner on the team next year. I really want to be one of the fastest and I need surefire ways to be the best. Any tips about middle school track and events will help. Also describe the events, not sure what an 800 meter dash is??!!! Best Answer, 10 points? Thanks. Please e-mail this question to others.

  1. The 800 meter dash is running a half mile. It's not exactly a dash, unless you're really really good at it. My only tip would be to stretch as efficiently as possible. I've become the best long distance runner for my track team, and I've hurt one of my legs. I'm now praying for it to be better by my next meet next week, and it's not fun. Good luck.

  2. You just need to train your little heart out! lol sounds lame I know but I just got done with a track meet today and thats what you have to do to get fast!

  3. Feild Events:

Long Jump :who can jump the farthest

High Jump: who can jump the highest

Pole Vault: who can use a stick to get them highest in the air

Shot Put: an 8 pound ball thrown the farthest

Discus: 2 pound frisbeeish thing that you throw far

    Running:

    100, 200 meter dash

    400

    800

(by the way, the 800 ain't no "dash")

    1600 (mile)

in high school they add the 2 mile

    hurdles

    relay teams

note: 400 meters is one lap around the track.  You do the math

    idk, run everyday..

  4. 800 meter dash is sprinting half a mile. Practice makes perfect! Practice 5 days a week, 4 weeks a month :). Each day switch off between shot, long jump, running, etc.

        Good Luck,

P.S. You don't neccesarilly have to sprint the 800 meter dash
