im almost ocd about reading. when i read a text book or a book on a topic that i want to learn about, i feel the need to read a every other sentence about 4 times to reassure myself i understand everything. its so annoying and i hate it. is there a faster way to read without having to re read everything? i have great comprehension but im tired of taking forever to read material. thanks!

  1. Only way to do it is to practice, probably not what you want to hear but its true! Or mayb you should try to make yourself scan through it, if you are really good at comprehension you should be able to retain it then to. It's hard to break it I know and its annoying, but you have to push yourself; make yourself not read it agian, put the book down for a bit if you have to. Learn to disipline yourself with it!

    Good luck!

  2. well the best technique is SQ3R which is basically

    Survey, Question, Read, Review, Recite

check this tutorial , it is great

  3. there's no other way.  the more you read, the better you get.  just stop being so paranoid and focus on the first time you read through a passage so you don't have to go over it again.  maybe slowing down your pace a little would help you retain all the information.

  4. there are different kinds of reading. one is  scanning in which you have onli read the most impt.facts in the reading selection, like date, names, the setting of the story, the age, you will not read the entire selection to minimize your time.

the other kind is skimming, in which you have to read line by line the entire selection, or you must read it again and again to realy understand the thought of the story. you have to read between the lines.

i hope i helped you a little bit.

    thanx
