This is a follow up to my other question.

Here's the deal, I'm not a feminist nor do I wish to be one but I need to see life from that side for awhile. I got a gig with a feminist magizine and I have to write some articles on feminists view point of the media.

  1. I find it useful to transpose the gender when I read / write something.

If I change it to man, male, etc, does it still sound like fair comment?  Another good way is to transpose women for 'black', does it sound racist?  Then it's probably sexist.  For instance, take the following statement...

I believe in equal rights for women but I think they use emotion rather than logic and sometimes need to be protected by men....

I believe in equal rights for black people but I think they use emotion rather than logic and sometimes need to be protected by white people...

    :-)

  2. You're going to get a lot of anti-feminists saying "hate men" BUT if you're actually serious, Simone De Beauvoir's The Second s*x is the (best) classic work, although written a while ago now... and translations are supposedly not as good as the original (stupid french language....)

Otherwise, the general aim of the majority of feminists is legal AND social equality. That means equal treatment in all areas of life for both genders, no discrimination because of s*x. That's the constant. Then other branches of feminism have difference priorities/aims.

  3. Is easy. Just remove your brain (if you have a brain) and replace it with a big piece of poo.

  4. Believe u have more choices than those society tells u have, which means, there's not such "women's job", "women's obligations" nor "women's tasks"....

  5. ....ok now I'm jealous!

  6. since feminist has been defined in so many different ways, you would have to go back to when it originated,to get the true meaning to the word as it was ment at first...

For I have seen two different sides to what a feminist really is..

  7. I answered a question last night which has since been deleted, not sure if by yahoo or the asker however it asked, "how much did you learn about feminism in school?"

that right there would make a great article because everyone that wrote in said "Nothing or not much" it was not taught in my school but in my home where I was taught the good the bad and the ugly on each subject. Feminism was no different I learned what we gained and what we lost.

  8. In that case, how do you perceive the media's portrayals of various types of women? For that matter, what about their portrayals of men?

  9. You only need one creed ...

Use the word 'equality' in speeches, but be politically active only for women.

  10. i don't think there's an innitiation into it or anything like that. it's just what you believe.

  11. You seem much too intellegent to ever understand anything from a feminist view point.

  12. be an undercover reporter for a while , listen around for some meetings or something. spend time with some feminists , and you will be able to see their side of view . but to write about them , you have to feel what they feel , so push your ideals , and opinions for a while, but dont lose them. remember you have the right to have your own opinions.
