  4. For Test Cricket only the rules will apply in T20 or other forms unorthodox play will click. I am giving the tips for test.

1.Concentrate on the ball delivering right from the Bowler's hand.

    2. Continously watcht the wrist and fingers of the bowler to guess which swing or spin he is bowling?

3.Depending upon the pitch of the ball decide to go for front foot or backfoot.

    4. Try to play as close as your body.

5.Selection of shot is much important.

6.Judgement of pitch also a key.

7.Try to play straight as possible to defend your wicket.

    8.Temperement also important.

  5. The main thing required for a good batsman is confidence!

Batsman needs to have heaps of concentration and a hunger for runs. A person who wants to do well, not because he has to do well...

He should be willing to adapt to the changing match conditions and situation. Should have the ability to break the shackles whenever required.

Try to play more with bat, rather than pad. Should try to leave as much as possible in a test match. Should try to play every ball on its merit (easier said than done...)

Try to out thing and out smart the bowling team!

  6. All you need is three major steps to become a great batsman VS bowlers. (Talking as a bowler verse)

    The concentration -

    The technique -

    The balance -

Once you can master this three batting steps you can become a great batsman.

  7. Cricket is not that easy game as some people think. It requires a lot of mental strength and concentration all the time whether it's bowling, batting or fielding.

Batting is all about timing, balance, good technique to face both fast and spin bowlers, and personally more important for me is not get carried away or let stupid thoughts come into your head which can affect the way you're batting. I bat at No.3 and i have experienced a lot of times especially if you're playing at a higher standard proper 40-50 overs cricket league matches like me than your mental strength plays a big role throughout your whole inning.

It's important to have hunger for scoring runs and not gettin out until the end of innings but that could sometimes lead you play a silly shot and you'll be walking back regreting the shot, which you shouldn't have played. So, I'd say have positive thoughts in your mind all the time when you're batting, for example when you go out to bat think to yourself i'll not be walking back to pavillion until this whole inning finishes.

Another important thing is do not pre-judge where the bowler is going to bowl and try to hit him outside the ground, that's where I have gone wrong a lot of times, in batting hitting sixes will obviously make you feel great but in order to do that you need to have eye and balance combination and the ability to hit the bowl right out of the middle of your bat. Not all the greatest batsmen hit sixes to score runs, if you don't have that ability then don't overtry to do which you'll never can or which will take ages to learn.

Every great batsmen or bowlers are good at particular things, they're special in their own ways. For example, me as a batsman I'm really good towards leg side i.e flicking the bowl, htting it through midwicket, mid-on etc. You should realise what are your strengths and weaknesses, and work on weaknesses and try to master your strengths more. And remember as all good batsmen, you need balance and feet movement.

As the bowler's bowling you need to look at his hand and see which way he's going to swing or spin or just go straight on. As, the ball is released you have to quickly judge the length of the ball as it's about to pitch and make that initial movement of playing the ball on either backfoot or frontfoot. Remember, never play the ball too far away from your body neither ever leave gap between your bat and body i.e if you leave gap you can get LBW or bowled often.

If you're playing proper cricket and want to go further and achieve something in cricket then those legs have to be strong, if they're not you'll never be able to play those long innings and score big runs. Balance also depends on your fitness, if you have good strong legs you're more likely to move your feet quickly according to the ball delivery and make initial feet movement quickly and stay in that postion and hit the ball nicely as you would want to.

As a batsman you need to put pressure on bowler and fielders as well, if you have that it helps a lot. For example, coming down to the pitch and smacking the ball over bowler's head for four or six, it's definetly gona affect the bowler in some way or takin those quick singles is gona put pressure on fielders. So, first work out your strengths and weaknesses, work on them, never play pre-meditated shots, always have positive thoughts in your mind when you're batting i.e also encourage yourself to concentrate more. One more thing I forgot to mention you don't need to hit fours or sixes all the time to be a good batsman, those 1 and 2 runs are as important and that's what good batsmen do, play the ball in the gaps for 1s and 2s against good deliverys or bowlers, that also keeps the momentum going and does not put pressure on you.

As for the running between the wickets, you need to give loud and clear shout to your partner and try to run hard 1st run always to put pressure on the fieldsman and have chance of running that 2nd. As far as I'm concerned about the technique you don't have to change it too much as every batsman have their own special technique but you need to make sure that the bat is coming down straight when you play a shot, especially for front foot shots. Have a good analysis of all these things and work on each individual thing at a time and then you'll be scoring more and more runs no doubt, but only if you're willing to give that much time towards every little thing.

  8. Ok, first of all, i myself isn't a good batsman. But i know the techniques to be 1.

    1. Always watch the  ball till it passes you

    2. never try to smash everything straight away

    3. Try to concentrate,  don't play a ball if  something distracts you,

    4. Don't play away from your body,

    5. Don't play cross batted shots much,

    6. Try playing as straight as you can if possible

    and so on...

    GOOD LUCK!

  9. i think one of the best things a player an do to become a good batsman is too be relaxed and just play naturally, not robotically, out on the pitch.

ive had years where ive had a slow season because ive tried to do too much when im out there. i try to do everything perfectly, stick to technique. "play forward, elbow up" are good tips, but it will be your downfall if you consistently tell yourself that out on the field.

i averaged over 50 this year because i just played my most comfortable game, i didnt worry excessively about technique and "playing textbook shots".
