  1. The first plan is to get him a few friends! Monkeys are social creatures, they will enjoy your company for a while, but in the end, need friends from the same species.

You also need a decent outdoor enclosure with heated indoor part. The indoor part can be relatively small, but must be enough for your monkey to move about a little. For smaller monkeys like marmosets, a small shed will be adequate.

Hopefully by now you have a good vet with monkey experience, so talk to him about a dietery plan, variation is the key to happy monkeys. Similarly, enrichment is important, you'll find many guides to this online, but for a start, you can make a nut mixture similar to a bird cake, which can be set in a yoghurt pot or half coconut shell, or you can buy a treat ball which has small holes and hide pieces of fruit, or mealworms inside.

Personally I'd be aiming for one enrichment activity a week. This can be as simple as introducing an old toy which the monkey hasn't seen for a while, or maybe giving him some old cloth to explore?

    Hope thats a good start.

  2. Hi there... consider joining one of the monkey discussion forums on Yahoo! Groups http://groups.yahoo.com/ where you can exchange information with other monkey owners through discussions:

    Here's one of many:
