My cousin and I play a lot during the week with players around town who all are really good. They are about late 20's and early 30's where as I am only 15. I do probably better than most of them except two amazing players, but my cousin always says I need to quit worrying about jumpshots and be a slasher. He said most my points come when I attacking the hoop as a slasher instead of shooting.

So can you define and give me tips to be a "slasher."

  1. A slasher would be someone like Lebron or Dwayne Wade. In and outside scorer.

  2. i think hes sayin u need to have an unbeatable drive

when u drive it helps alot to stay low

also you need to work on handles so practice dribbling with two basket balls at your side or dribble blind folded

and practice new moves to keep the pace of your game ahead of your defenders

  3. I'm a good basketball player and I'm a good slasher. To be a better slasher try to be aggresive and do not worry about being blocked once in a while. Try to take a mid-range jumpshot around the foul line if there is a bigger man in front of you. When you slash you don't need to get a layup everytime and a mid-range shot is very effective.

  4. yea i get alot of my points of slashing. A slasher is basically the player who catches the defense sleeping. your moving without the ball, losing your defender, try to score off a cut. theres a couple ways of slashing: a hard jab up then explode the opposite way for a cut to the basket or a hard jab down then explode the opposite way and set up for your shot. you can do stutter steps to set up your defender also for your cut. but you cant stay in one spot, you gotta stay active in the offense. and when you do cut either direction you went and you lost your man, call for the ball so your team can hear and see you. but once you get the hang of it, you'll think of other ways to get the ball or get to the rim. its whatever the defense is giving you. so you can also watch players like for example rip hamilton, thats all he does is slash. or like lebron, d-wade, or ginobili. theres many more but those are ones that came to mind. so practice on it, its will add another element to your game

  5. lean down and dribble the ball

then quickly jump up in the air

and take the shot but aim the ball right to the basket

thatz wat i do only 11 yrs

  6. move with out the ball. Use angles. bring a knife
