1. 1. Learn the menu - not just what's on it but the things that go into the meals. Makes things a lot easier and the guests will be impressed with your food knowledge. However, if you don't know the answer, don't lie. Just say "I'm not sure but I can go ask the manager/cook/more experienced server about that for you" They'll like the sincerity.

    2. Use a memory/numbering method. For example, when you take an order at Table 6, make the person on the left side of the table nearest you Seat 1, the person sitting next to Seat 1 is Seat 2, the person sitting across from Seat 2 is Seat 3, etc. - see diagram below:

    Seat 1 _____Seat 2

............................

.......Table 6..........

............................

    Seat 4______Seat 3

Do this for all of your tables. It will make it so much easier remembering who ordered which dish. Telling yourself "Table 6, Seat 1 ordered the steak" is a lot easier than "That guy at Table 6 with the blue shirt and blonde hair had a steak" and it's easier to mark on your order pad. I also like to use this method when arranging drinks on a tray, so I don't have to remember which glass on the tray is Coke and which is Dr. Pepper, etc.

    3. Learn to multi task. You'll never make it if you try to wait tables one at a time. When you ask for refills for one table, go around and see if your other tables need refills too. If one table asks you to fetch some ketchup, why not take the time to grab another table's food or check on your way?

    4. Don't ever take someone's glass by the rim where they put their mouths. Grab the glasses by the middle or bottom.

    5. Know how to act. Some customers are rude. Busy nights can be stressful. You have to be able to slap a smile on your face and a sweet note in your voice no matter what. This part of the job sucks most cause it can be hard to be sweet to an a--hole customer.

    6. When you get soda, the closer you hold the glass to the spout of the soda dispenser, the less fizz you'll have.

    7. Practice. This is one of those jobs that you have to just keep doing in order to improve. Contrary to what people believe, waiting tables can be hard and stressful. You'll develop your own methods and techniques for doing things and soon you'll be raking in the great tips.

    Hope that helped!

  2. Well first you have to be a "people person".You have to be a natural liker of being around people or it will not be for you.The rest is  sometimes seating and getting the first round of drinks and also taking their orders checking back for any needs or add ons and bussing the tables  and sometimes cashing out customers. But remember if you are not a people person you will not be very happy with your job and the customer senses a phony and your tips will reflect upon that .

  3. fill out an applicaiton at a dinner. Train. take orders, give orders to cook. give order to custumer. and remember to be polite and super nice and give good service for tip
