  1. Good question. I've been trying for some time to get work. But if you want to learn, here are my recommended steps:

    Learn XHTML, then CSS, then Photoshop. Then look into things like design theory, typography, javascript and the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator).

    Don't get too bogged down with how much there is though. Web Design and outside of it Development is a big area. Learn XHTML and then focus on 1-2 other skills at a time that you need.
