How to be an astronaut?

Question

i was wondering if anyone can give me information on what it takes to be an astronaut. Such as the requirements out of school and uni. Things that I need. How to get the job. Where etc.

Im doing it for a job investigation in school and i need to make a pamphlet outlining everything from what it takes to what it needs etc. There are so many questions to be answered so please help!

Here is a good page over at nasa's web site that explains the basic requirements to become an astronaut.

I also recommend this book:

which was written by one of the shuttle astronauts. It talks a lot about the process you go through to be an astronaut.
