  1. Hi...  I agree with what the other answerer said.

    I am an insect ecologist.  Field experience is important.  Large state universities (or land grant universities) will often have good ecology programs.  Look for departments of Natural Resource Management, in some schools the ecology majors are hidden there.

Many state univeristies have excellent ecology programs.  I am not sure where you are at, but there is a high probablility there is a school close to where you want to be with a good ecology program.  If I were looking at universities to be an ecologist I would make sure I went to a research university and I would look into the ecology professors to see if their research they were conducting interested me.  

    Just an extra note, I am a wildlife biologist and in ecology and biology fields it is important to get field experience while in college.  The job market is very competitive and getting experience will help set you apart from others.  I recommend getting involved in any clubs and/or organizations in your field, volunteer to help out graduate students and professors whenever possible, and do internships or summer jobs in the field.  Good luck.
